Editorial Board

Role of the the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board will approve the technical specifications, approve the proposed services/modules, distribute the allocated resources to the various contributing partners, set-up common templates and take lead for editorial/maintenance/marketing procedures. The editorial board will actively engage in populating the web-portal in close collaboration with the other ACCENT participants.

  • User requirement specification; First expectations of the consortium for functionality of the web-portal was given in the ACCENT proposal. At the ACCENT kick-off meeting in Bologna in 2004, the activity leaders presented their activities and additional expectations for the web-portal. Based on these presentations, a first draft of the user requirement specification was developed by the Technical team.

  • The web portal has been implemented using a modular/service approach . A common core and common templates will be made and the various subprojects and tasks will operate and populate the various services/modules. When the portal is in operation participants will have access to edit, upload and delete information directly.

  • Each activity has appointed a person for interaction with the ACCENT web-portal. These contact persons play an important role in the development phase, and also in relation to the active population of the web-portal.

  • Several participants have inquired about the possibility to operate external web-resources and with external linking through the ACCENT web-portal. This issue was discussed at the first Editorial board meeting who decided the following general rules; While the ACCENT web-portal needs to make use of infrastructures and web-resources available outside the network, all activities funded or organized in under ACCENT shall be operated as integrated parts of the ACCENT web-portal. However, there needs to be a balance between the amount of information or meta-information that can be supported through the portal, and what will need to be developed by activities at external sites (in particular for activities with specific requirements).
