Exchange of staff 2006

The subproject Biosphere-Atmosphere Exchange of Pollutants (BIAFLUX) Call for proposals to exchange staff in 2006 closed on 19 May 2006.

Thirteen proposals were received and evaluated by the BIAFLUX Steering Committee. The following eight proposals were awarded full or partial funding:

Information on Exchange of Staff Scheme

The Exchange of staff is mainly but not exclusively aimed at young researchers, providing the opportunity for training, knowledge transfer and collaboration amongst European researchers. As a result of the exchange of staff, there will be a cohort of research staff with new skills in flux measurement techniques and data interpretation. Additionally, there will be an increased knowledge of BIAFLUX activities and facilities in Europe amongst researchers in the field and newcomers.

The duration of the exchange is variable and can last from one-week to months long periods, entirely depending on the requirements of the proposed work. The mobility is expected to take place between June and December 2006.

The work proposed has to fit into the BIAFLUX-subproject work programme and e.g. can include flux measurements in the field and comparison of measurement techniques. Apart from measurement-based activities, modelling studies will also be supported. There is an opportunity for visits to the main centers of long-range transport modeling in Europe to interact with specialists in application of surface exchange modeling and proposals to this effect are welcome. Although the Call is mainly focussed on biosphere-atmosphere exchange related activities, it is possible to submit proposals which link BIAFLUX with other workpackages within ACCENT (e.g. T&TP)

Field Sites

Following the first BIAFLUX meeting in September 2004, research groups have submitted relevant field sites that are in principle available for the Exchange of Staff activities. Other field sites/ labs can also be suggested in the proposal. (List see also under "Links"- right hand side column)
