Workshop day for Italian Research Institutions sponsored by the EU NoE ACCENT
"Some recent findings about the aerosol indirect effect"

The workshop "Some recent findings about the aerosol indirect effect" has been organized on October 27, 2005 at the Rome headquarter of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) with the support of the ACCENT network. The venue was made possible thanks to the presence in Rome of Dr. Yoram Kaufman of NASA Goddard and Dr. Ilan Koren of the Israeli Weismann Institute, who were visiting Dr. Gian Paolo Gobbi of ISAC CNR Rome and of Dr. Sandro Fuzzi of ISAC-CNR Bologna (ACCENT Coordinator).

The workshop was attended by 35 people. The audience was equally composed by research scientists and post-doc research associates from eleven different research Institutions (see partecipants list).
Three talks were scheduled to provide an introduction, case studies and open questions regarding the three following subjects:

1) "Remote sensing of aerosols, clouds and the interactions amongst them": Dr. Yoram Kaufman (NASA-GSFC, USA); (abstract, presentation)

2) "Aerosol effects on cloud structure" propagation from microphysics to dynamics":  Dr. Ilan Koren ( Weismann Inst., Tel Aviv, Israel); (abstract, presentation)

3) "Aerosol-Cloud Interaction: the Effect of Aerosol Composition and Properties on Cloud Formation": Dr. Sandro Fuzzi (ISAC-CNR, Italy). (abstract, presentation)
