ACCENT in the Land of Chinggis Khaan

In 2007 ACCENT's Training and Education held a workshop in the Hotel Mongolia near Ulaanbaatar. This was organised jointly between the University of Berne, Switzerland and the Mongolian Development Institute (see programme). There were around twenty early career scientists and ten stakeholders and senior scientists from Mongolia taking part in the workshop.

The Workshop has been followed by collaborative work between ACCENT Partners and Mongolian scientists to draft out a Roadmap for Research, Education and Policy on Air Pollution in Mongolia. The capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, lies in a valley surrounded by mountains and suffers from severe winter smog, which is especially severe in winter.
