An exercise of Biomass Burning emissions Intercomparison is being currently carried out. This exercise is called 'INTERMEDE BBSO : Intercomparison of methods to derive global burnt biomass from satellite observations'. This intercomparison exercise follows the BBSO workshop held in december 2005, and is carried out under the leadership of the JRC unit in Ispra, Italy and the Laboratoire d'Aérologie, Toulouse, France.

The intercomparison focuses on total particulate matter and CO emission estimates and the reference year for the exercise will be 2003.
