Weybourne Atmospheric Observatory (WAO)

WAO is a coastal site located on the North Norfolk coastline near Weybourne. Over the last ten years the Weybourne Atmospheric Observatory (WAO) has become established as a world class facility at which fundamental research, background monitoring and teaching have all been successfully carried forward. WAO has been the focus of many international experiments designed to look into the chemistry of the planetary boundary layer and into the free troposphere.

1. RESEARCH INTEREST AND PARTICULAR COMPETENCES

Over the last ten years the Weybourne Atmospheric Observatory (WAO); as part of the 5 Star plus School of Environmental Sciences of thehe University of East Anglia, has become established as a world class facility at which fundamental research, background monitoring and teaching have all been successfully carried forward. WAO has been the focus of many international experiments designed to look into the chemistry of the planetary boundary layer and into the free troposphere. These include INSPECTRO an EEC funded project investigating the evolving fast photochemistry with changing incident radiation and TORCH looking particularly at the change in atmospheric chemistry when the measured air mass has originated from both a near and far field source region

The site (WAO) is capable of providing laboratory space for many visiting scientists and their instrumentation. With both single and three phase power available
