Post-doctoral fellowship in atmospheric chemistry at Lyon
Postdoctoral position is available in the research group focussing on atmospheric chemistry at the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et lEnvironnement de Lyon(IRCELYON).
This one-year fellowship focuses on the development and execution of novel research into organic aerosol photochemistry.
Aerosols, both natural and anthropogenically formed, are ubiquitous in the atmosphere. In spite of recent growing interest in atmospheric aerosol properties, their chemistry is far from being understood at a sufficient level to assess their impacts on health, air quality and climate.
The research focuses on laboratory studies of aerosols using our Aerodyne Aerosol Mass Spectrometer and a variety of other aerosol instrumentation. The project involves laboratory experiments on aerosol photochemistry (photo-induced chemistry at the surfaces of various organic and inorganic aerosols) and the investigation of amines aerosol formation and evolution. The amines experiment is part of an international project
and will be performed at the EUPHORE facility in Valencia, Spain (http://euphore.es/).
A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, atmospheric sciences or a related discipline is required.
Prior hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, standard aerosol instrumentation and vacuum techniques is desired. Additional skills include experience in working in a research team environment; good oral and written communications; interpersonal skills;
initiative; the ability to collaborate effectively in teams; creative/innovative thinking.
